Main tutor Cath Lloyd is a CelAction2D veteran. She started animating on The Big Knights with Astley Baker Davies in 1998, the first show to use the software. Since then she has animated on numerous projects, both in the UK and abroad, and delved into asset preparation and rigging for fast paced comedy sketch show 2DTV. She has taught CelAction2D courses in Brighton, Lithuania and at UAL Central St Martin’s, as well as teaching individuals. She recently completed animation on Dot to Dot’s School of Roars for CBBC, and is looking forward to showing a new group of animators and artists how to use this high-end production software.

Recommendations

"With so many tools and options It's easy to get lost, availing yourself of this tutorial course before you begin is a must, to make sure you get the most out of the software. Excellent and friendly tutors that know the software at a professional level. Highly recommend!"

Cath Lloyd ran a great course, covering all the basics to get us up and running with CelAction2D. She taught clearly and provided good supporting materials. By the end of the course we'd gone from never using CelAction2D before, to rigging and animating a 2D character from scratch, importing a background, and exporting a viewable file. Thank you, Cath!

I jumped at the chance to go on a CelAction2d Animation course, supported by ScreenSkillsUK. It ran over two weeks and covered both animation and rigging. The group was small and lively and our tutor, Cath, was brilliant. Her knowledge and understanding of the software comes from years of working in the animation industry on CelAction productions.  We used industry standard rigs to animate and were also encouraged to create our own rigs.  We undertook loads of animation exercises to reinforce our learning.  Cath took time to answer questions and in my case, organised extra tutorials out of hours, so I didn’t miss anything. We also had access to the software for a month after the end of the course. This meant that I had time to create something for my demo reel. As a direct result of this course, I am working in an animation studio, designing artwork for a CelAction production.

Cath set me up brilliantly for working with CelAction2D, giving me all the tools and understanding I needed to hit the ground running in CelAction2D series animation.

Cath is friendly and fun, clear and to the point;  explaining concepts and breaking down the software, from rigging through to animation and effects, in a way that’s easy to understand and unintimidating. You will leave the training with a broad view of CelAction2D, a good working knowledge and a wealth of tips and tricks from a seasoned professional.

I would highly recommend for students, professionals  or studio training.

I firmly believe teaching is an undervalued and underestimated skillset, and Cath has been one of the best teachers I've encountered!

Thanks to her online lessons and weekly video calls, I was quickly able to pick up CelAction2D much faster than I have previous software. Cath answered my questions clearly and thoroughly, and was always happy to elaborate on the tools available along with tips on how to approach and utilise them.

I would highly recommend this course to anyone with an interest in learning CelAction2D.

Animator at Cloth Cat

When I embarked on my first Celaction2D project (showrunning for the CBeebies series ‘Footy Pups’), I did a few weeks training with Cath to give me an overview of the software and its capabilities. She was an excellent mentor and gave me detailed one-on-one training, taking me step-by-step through the Celaction2D interface, tools, animation and rigging functionality.

The course was divided neatly into stages, with instructional handouts and practical exercises to accompany each element, helping me build and consolidate my knowledge as I progressed through the course.

She was friendly and encouraging throughout and always on hand to help with any questions I had. She has such an extensive knowledge of Celaction2D, she was always able to go above and beyond, showcasing some of the more advanced effects and functionality within the software that would be of particular benefit to my project, allowing me to hone my skills in specific areas.

If you want to give your Celaction2D skills a kickstart, I would highly recommend Cath’s training course.
